Public charge means an individual who is likely to become primarily dependent on the government for subsistence, by either the receipt of public cash assistance for income maintenance or institutionalization for long-term care at government expense.
U Visa Pending and Stay of Deportation – Changes in Policy
Until July 2019, people who were arrested by ICE but had pending U Visa Applications, ICE communicated with USCIS to see if the U Visa petition was properly filed and decided whether a Stay could be granted on the person’s Deportation.
