I was honored to join a panel of fellow legal professionals for the South Asian Bar Association of North America’s Young Lawyers Division event, “A Culturally-Informed Approach to Legal Ethics,” held virtually on July 1, 2026.
I was joined by moderator Akriti Bhargava (SABA NA VP of Young Lawyers Division) and fellow speakers Emil J. Ali (Partner at McCabe Ali LLP) and Prathyusha Chenji (Corporate Counsel at Edible Brands) for a timely conversation on how cultural context shapes the way attorneys navigate professional responsibility, from client communication and informed consent to diligence and competence under the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct.
Working with immigrant families and clients from so many different cultural backgrounds, this topic is close to home for me. Ethical practice isn’t one size fits all, and understanding a client’s cultural lens is often the difference between good representation and truly effective representation. I loved having the space to dig into that with such a thoughtful group.
Thank you to SABA North America’s Young Lawyers Division for the invitation, and to my fellow panelists for a great discussion.
